H.N. Picard ALPHA, Ill. #45;- Dr. H.N. Picard, 90, Alpha, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at his home. Private graveside services are 2:30 p.m. today at the Rock Island Hebrew Cemetery. Memorial visitation is 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home, Alpha. Memorials may be made to the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department or to the Bethany Home. Dr. Picard was born on Nov. 8, 1912, in Sontheim, Germany, the son of Julius and Gertrude Groensfelder Picard. He married Pamela Whiteside on March 17, 1967, in Alpha. He graduated in Heidelberg, Germany and received a Swiss Doctorate in Bern, Switzerland. He came to the United States where he did his residency in Toledo, Ohio, Quincy, Ill. and finally at Moline Public Hospital, Moline, Ill. where he became acquainted with Earl Knox who encouraged him to open his medical practice in Alpha on Jan. 1, 1941. He retired on Jan. 18, 1988.
