CLYDE HUBBLE MUSCATINE, Iowa - Clyde W. Hubble, 84, formerly of 912 Cedar Street, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Lutheran Homes where he had been residing. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 2902 Lucas Street. Craig Thrap will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mr. Hubble was born June 25, 1918, in Muscatine, the son of John "Jack" and Laura Dusenberry Hubble. He married Shirley R. Wintermute in 1947, in Iowa City. He and his wife owned and operated Hubble's from 1949 until 1998. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. He was a past member of the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce where he served a term as president. He was a past member of the Y.M.C.A. Board of Directors and the Muscatine Planning and Zoning Commission. He served as Assistant Director of the Muscatine Civil Defense. Post 27, and Elk's Lodge No. 304. He was also a member of the Iowa Lodge No. 2 AF amp;AM, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree and Kaaba Temple Shrine. He also served in various leadership positions in the church including Stake Patriarch. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp as a pilot with the 101st Airborne and he was also a flight instructor. Survivors include three sons, Charles "Chuck" Hubble and his wife, Jo Ann, of Iowa City, Jon C. Hubble and his wife, Gloria, of Woodland, California, and Andrew Mack Hubble and his wife, Connie, of Loveland, Colorado; one daughter, Deanne E. Ready of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; one step-daughter, Cheryl Dickinson and her husband, Richard "Dick", of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Hubble and his wife, Barbara, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and two sisters, Lorraine Kopf and her husband, Tony, of Muscatine, and Evelyn Heden of Sebastian, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1999, and one sister, Wilma Kindler.
