Maurice Jackson JOY, Ill. #45;- Maurice L. Jackson, 73, Joy, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, Ill. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Joy United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Bishop will officiate. Burial will be at the Peniel Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Mercer County Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1571. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to Joy United Methodist Church or to the family. Mr. Jackson was born on April 14, 1930, the son of Chester H. and Della Longley Jackson. He married Nancy E. Crawford on Sept. 2, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1993. He later married Veronica Vroman Beaird on May 6, 2000. He graduated from Joy High School in 1948 and attended Blackburn College and Iowa State University. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a second generation farmer in rural Joy. He took enjoyed raising purebred Simmental Cattle, and in the past five years he reached his goal of becoming a certified organic farmer. He was a member of Joy United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Veronica; two daughters, Diane Louck and her husband, Don, of Weslaco, Texaco, and Deb Bonick and her husband, Doug, of Joy; four grandchildren, Darin and Ray Louck, both of Texas, Angela Davis of New Boston, Ill., and Katie Bonick of Joy; a great-grandchild, Ryan Andrew Louck of Texas; and a sister, Mary Katherine Robinson of Cameron, Ill. He was preceded in death by parents and an infant daughter.
