Curtis Utley MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa #45;- Curtis W. Utley, 78, formerly of Iowa City and West Liberty, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Barker Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Utley was born on Dec. 26, 1924, in West Liberty, the son of Wiley and Anna Williams Utley. He graduated from West Liberty High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a prisoner of war during World War II. He was a cashier at the V.A. Hospital, Iowa City, for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Mansell Phillips Post No. 509 in West Liberty and of the Elks in Muscatine. He was also a former member of the West Liberty Country Club.
