Ronald Wesley Wright WEST LIBERTY, Iowa - Ronald Wesley Wright, 61, of West Liberty died suddenly Friday evening, Sept. 19, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, after a massive heart attack. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at the West Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeanne Koughn officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 23, at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Wright was born April 28, 1942, in Iowa City, the son of Vernon and Hermeina Potter Wright. He graduated from West Liberty High School in 1960, and attended Muscatine Junior College. He married Cheryl Booth on Jan. 6, 1962. He was first and foremost a father and a husband. After that he was pure farmer. His entire working life revolved around grain farming and livestock. Along the way, he worked at a variety of jobs, most recently for Terry Ruess Construction. He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church where he served on many boards and committees. Ron used his skills with cattle to teach several youth about showmanship, even after he retired from formally being a leader and advisor. He served as a Muscatine County Fair Superintendent in the Beef Shows, as a member of Muscatine County Pork Producers where he had served as president, and also in the Muscatine County Cattleman's Association. Survivors include, his wife, Cheryl Wright of West Liberty; his daughter, Robyn Ireland of Marion; his sister, Audrey Lenz and her husband, Dale, of West Liberty, and his brother, Kenneth Wright of West Liberty and Kenneth's fiancée Brenda Adkisson of Eldridge. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Marie Novy of West Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Scott, in June 2003.
