Donald Burmeister NEW LIBERTY, Iowa #45;- Donald Burmeister, 73, New Liberty, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center - West Campus, Davenport. Services were 10 a.m. today at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Pallbearers were his grandchildren. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation was 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Burmeister was born on July 7, 1930, in Big Rock, the son of Alvin and Mayme Holt Burmeister. He married Bernadine M. Hamann on May 26, 1951, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1987. He attended Scott County Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime farmer in the New Liberty area where he enjoyed working with his dozer. He served on the Dixon Park Board, enjoyed playing cards and working in the auction business. He was actively involved in the horse business and was a member of the American Quarter Horse and the American Paint Horse associations.
