Kermit K. Rohde WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa #45;- Kermit K. Rohde, 80, of West Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at his home. Services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Burlington. The Rev. Donald Hoornstra will officiate. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation is noon Tuesday Dec. 2, in Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. in the chapel. Memorials may be made to Hope Haven Development Center and Messiah Lutheran Church. Mr. Rohde was born Jan. 1, 1923, in West Burlington, a son of the late Carl Rohde and Ebba Lindstrom Rohde. He married Jeanette Glenn May 6, 1945, in West Burlington. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1940 and attended Burlington Junior College. He worked for the CB amp;Q Railroad and retired as a tool and die foreman in the mechanical department at IAAP after 28 years. He served as an Army-Air Corps Staff Sergeant and served as a ground based radar crew chief in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He assisted in Little League baseball, and enjoyed golf and bowling. He enjoyed his grandchildren, family gatherings, and building model planes, cars and ships. Survivors include his wife; one son, Dan Rohde and his wife, Mary-Kay, of Muscatine; one daughter, Beth Peterson and her husband, Jim, of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Anne Rohde and Daniel and Katie Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bruce.
