Dennis Batty WEST LIBERTY, Iowa #45;- Dennis R. Batty, 57, West Liberty, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at his home. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 N. Calhoun St. The Rev. Al Zimmerman will officiate. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Community Center. A memorial fund has been established. The Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Batty was born July 29, 1946, in Charles City, the son of T. Edward and Frances Munshower Batty. He married Mari Hejlik Aug. 24, 1968, in Rockwell. He graduated from high school in Rockford in 1964. He received a bachelor's degree and later his master of business administration degree from Mankato State University. He had worked in Minneapolis as an internal auditor with International Multi Foods before beginning his career in banking. In 1973 he began in banking, working in Mason City then Union Whitten Savings Bank, Union, and Laporte City State Bank, Laporte City, before moving to West Liberty in 1983 where he served as president and CEO of the West Liberty State Bank for more than 20 years. ng with the U.S. Army, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He loved his grandchildren very much. He also enjoyed hunting, antiques, Corvettes and gardening. He was a member of the County Bankers Peer Group and Muscatine County Bankers Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jason Batty and wife Amy of Johnston; two grandchildren, Skylar and Brooke; his mother, Frances Batty of Charles City; a brother, Jack Batty of Rockford; and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father.
