George Oveson MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- George Morris Oveson 80, Muscatine, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Unity Hospital. Private family services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. Robert Wilson will officiate. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 114 W. Fourth St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muskie Booster Club. Mr. Oveson was born March 15, 1923, in Wilton, the son of George Milton Oveson and Vera Godske. He married Josephine Hazen April 4, 1946, in Muscatine. He was a veteran, serving during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked in the Muscatine School system for 51 years and was known as 'Mr. O.' He also worked for the City of Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department for many years. Survivors include his wife; sons, Ron and wife Nancee of Wilton, Craig and Tom, all of Austin, Texas, and Rex of Moscow; daughters, Claudia, Debra McKee and husband Jim, Marianne Oveson and Michalle Colschen and husband Dan, all of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
