Margaret Hiller NEW FRANKLIN, Mo. #45;- Margaret Elizabeth Lauer Hiller, 89, New Franklin, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Cooper County Hospital, Boonville, Mo. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Parsons Cemetery, Toolesboro. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home, Fayette, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Allergy and Asthma Network in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home, 174 Highway 5 and 240 N. Fayette, MO. 65248. Mrs. Hiller was born Aug. 8, 1914, on the family farm outside of Zion near Creston, the daughter of Joseph Clarence and Ida May Davenport Lauer. She married Martin William Hiller June 4, 1939. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Zion Country School. She attended Iowa State College, Ames, and Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls, majoring in education. She taught school in Gilbert and Grandview. Her husband graduated from Iowa State College and also taught school for a time in Iowa. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and they were stationed in Illinois and Florida. n-law. The family joined him in China in 1947 as part of the post-war occupation forces. He was eventually stationed at Air Force bases in Tacoma, Wash., Albuquerque, N.M., Tucson, Ariz., Plattsburgh, N.Y., Clark Air Base, Philippine Islands, and Long Island, N.Y. While in Plattsburgh, she attended the New York State Teacher's College, earning her master of education degree. After that she taught school until retirement, specializing in grades 1-4 and later in special education classes for elementary school children. They retired in 1975, moving to Heber Springs, Ariz., and eventually to Council Bluffs She had lived in New Franklin, Mo., since 1985. Survivors include a son, Marlin William Hiller of New Franklin; five grandchildren, Justin and Jason Hiller, Laura Moran, Timothy, James and Theresa Jorris; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Hiller. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Marlys Lillian Hiller Sanford and Mariene LaVerne Hiller Jorris; and nine brothers and sisters.
