Gary Wiley ABINGDON, Ill. #45;- Gary R. Wiley, 67, of rural Abingdon, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, Ill. Services are 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon. The Rev. Paul Dinges and Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be at Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the family or the Christian Children's Fund. Mr. Wiley was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Louisa County, the son of Harvey and Esther Wiley. He married Betty Blair Dec. 12, 1959, in Galesburg, Ill. He graduated from Morning Sun High School, Morning Sun, and attended Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant. He played professional baseball as a pitcher with the New York Yankee organization and later served as a scout. He worked at the former Rowe Manufacturing, Galesburg, for 10 years and later became the manager of the heating and air conditioning division of May Company, Galesburg. Lynn Jones of Abingdon; a son, Scott Wiley of Abingdon; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Tobe Wiley of Wapello and Richard Wiley of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
