John 'Danny' Nash MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa #45;- John 'Danny' Nash, 82, of Las Vegas and Marshalltown, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at Villa del Sol Health Center, Marshalltown. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at First United Methodist Church, Marshalltown. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown. Visitations are 3-6 p.m. Sunday, April 18, with family present from 3-6 p.m., and 5-9 p.m. Monday, April 19, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mr. Nash was born June 27, 1921, in Des Moines, the son of Ruben and Gladys Hartum Nash. He married Cordie Bates June 27, 1984, in Las Vegas. He was a 1938 graduate of Muscatine High School. He worked for Kent Feeds for 42 years as an outstanding sales representative. He enjoyed extensive motor home and international travel. He enjoyed tailgating at the Iowa and Iowa State Games. He played semi-pro basketball and enjoyed sports of all kinds and the outdoors which included fishing in the Canadian waters for Walleye, Northerns and Muskies as well as moose hunting. at Abel Island in Guttenberg. He loved golf the gaming casinos of Las Vegas. His fascination for Las Vegas was unbelievable. He was a Shriner, member of the Elks Lodge, a Mason and a 50-year member of the Elmwood Country Club. Most of all, he enjoyed people and loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Cordie Nash of Marshalltown; daughters, Vanessa Kennedy and husband, Pat, of Wellsburg, Janice Galla-Rini of Corona, Calif., and Jill Franklin of Woodbridge, Va.; sons, Craig Hornbacher of Berwick and John 'Butch' Nash Jr. of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Kinicin of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Georgia Nash of Altoona; many nieces and nephew; three great-great-nieces and nephew; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Nash; a brother, Walter Nash; two sisters, Margaret Stump and Verda Braun; business partner and special friend, Bing Baily of Muscatine; and his mother- and father-in-law, Lee and Dorothy Bates.
