at Abel Island in Guttenberg. He loved golf the gaming casinos of Las Vegas. His fascination for Las Vegas was unbelievable. He was a Shriner, member of the Elks Lodge, a Mason and a 50-year member of the Elmwood Country Club. Most of all, he enjoyed people and loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Cordie Nash of Marshalltown; daughters, Vanessa Kennedy and husband, Pat, of Wellsburg, Janice Galla-Rini of Corona, Calif., and Jill Franklin of Woodbridge, Va.; sons, Craig Hornbacher of Berwick and John 'Butch' Nash Jr. of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Kinicin of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Georgia Nash of Altoona; many nieces and nephew; three great-great-nieces and nephew; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Nash; a brother, Walter Nash; two sisters, Margaret Stump and Verda Braun; business partner and special friend, Bing Baily of Muscatine; and his mother- and father-in-law, Lee and Dorothy Bates.
