Joseph Minnick BLUE GRASS, Iowa #45;- Dr. Joseph O. 'Doc' Minnick D.V.M., 75, Blue Grass, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at his home. Services are 10 a.m. Friday, April 23, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. The Rev. Nancy Hoelter will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by vocalist, Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are Jason Stewart, Rob Horn Jr., Paul Hein, Brad Burton, Chris Burton and Terry Ferkel. Honorary casket bearers are Brad Miller and Kyle Moeller. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, with Military Rites conducted by the Burlington and West Burlington American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hope Lodge, Baltimore, Md., John Hopkins University and the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Minnick was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Morton, Mo., the son of Berryman and Mary Grimes Minnick. He married Judy D. Polson June 21, 1953, in Burlington. of Federal Meat Inspection for 33 years retiring in 1985. He graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo., with a degree in veterinary medicine. He was a member of the University Alumni Association and the National Tennessee Walking Horses Association. He raised and showed Tennessee Walking Horses and Yorkshire Terriers. He enjoyed attending The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville, Tenn. each year. He loved animals, horses and cutting wood in the timber. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and was a sports addict. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Vicki Cullifer and husband, Frank, of Hampton, Va., Jody Moeller and husband, Kevin, of Walcott, Shelly Minnick of Blue Grass; a son, Jeff Minnick of Blue Grass; two sisters, Sarah West of Carrollton, Mo., Mary Lou Ruckdeschell and husband, Charles, of Richmond, Mo.; six grandchildren, Schalene and Kelsey Schee and Kelly, Kyle, Keri and Kacie Moeller. He was preceded in death by his parents.
