CATHERINE C. POTTHOFF MUSCATINE, Iowa - Catherine Caroline Potthoff, of Muscatine, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the St. Mathias Church, 215 W Eighth St. The Rev. John P. Gallagher will officiate. Casket bearers will be Catherine's grandchildren. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall following the committal. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2004, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Joan of Arc Court 524. Memorials may be made to St. Mathias Church or the Bishop Hayes Elementary School. Mrs. Potthoff was born on February 1, 1917, in Carroll, the daughter of Louis and Catherine Luehrs Hannasch. She married Roman T. Potthoff on September 4, 1940, in Carroll. Catherine was raised and educated in Carroll, Iowa. She was a member of the St. Mathias Parish, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Joan of Arc Court 524, the Lady Elks and her bridge club for over 50 years. s a stay at home mom while raising four children which was a role she cherished. She loved her family, playing cards with friends, and "puttering" around the house. Survivors include her husband, Roman Potthoff of Muscatine; two sons, Richard Potthoff and wife, Susie, of Manchester, New Hampshire, and David Potthoff and wife, Tracey Olson, of Western Springs, Illinois; two daughters, Pam McClean and husband, Joe, of Kansas City, Missouri, Sheryl Wieskamp and husband, Gary, of Muscatine; nine grandchildren, Michael, David and Caroline McClean, Stephen Wieskamp and wife, Dana, and Julie Wieskamp, and Jenny, Joe, Maggie, and Max Potthoff; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph, and Samuel Wieskamp; one brother, Pete Hannasch of Gladstone, Missouri; one sister, Leone Culbertson of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
