Opal Thompson ALEDO, Ill. #45;- Opal E. Thompson, 92, Aledo, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be at the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services Wednesday, June 16, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Thompson was born June 15, 1911, in Lynn County, the daughter of Alfred and Rose Hartman Walton. She married Allan T. Thompson Aug. 14, 1931, in Fulton, Ill. He preceded her in death May 26, 1995. She attended the local Mount Vernon schools. They farmed in the Lynn County area until moving to and farming in the New Boston Bay area until moving to Aledo in 1950. She was formerly employed at the Mercer County Hospital from 1950-1956. She was a member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center, where she taught crafts and hosted card parties.
