VIRGINIA JENS HONTS MUSCATINE, Iowa - Virginia L. Jens Honts, 86, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Muscatine Care Center. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2107 Cedar Street. Reverend Leif Pohl will officiate. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at Grace Lutheran Church following the committal service. Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Muscatine Care Center. Virginia was born on September 1, 1917, in Princeton, the daughter of Floyd M. and Viola Phillips Airhardt. Her first marriage was to Loren E. Jens on November 7, 1936, in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1988. Her second marriage was to Daniel James "Danny" Honts on April 5, 1990, in Iowa City. He preceded her in death in 1992. s of Iowa, a member of the Newton Pocahontas Council, the College of Regents for the Women of the Moose, she served a pianist for the Moose for many years, the Eagles Lodge, and was also a member of the Pythian Sisters of Buffalo. Survivors include three sons, Dennis Jens and wife, Nancy, of Muscatine, Randy Jens and wife, Janeen, of Muscatine, Gary Jens of Muscatine; one daughter, Dorothy Schmoldt and husband, Dean, of Muscatine; one step-son, Steve Honts and wife, Mary, of Muscatine; two step-daughters, Janet Forbes and husband, Steven, of Muscatine, and Violet Reiter and husband, Ed, of Burlington; 14 grandchildren, Michael Schmoldt, Karen Schmoldt Thomas, Allan Schmoldt, Barb Crews, Robert 'Buddy' Jens, Melissa Winters, Jody Hitchcock, Jessica Jens, Gary Jens Jr., Brandon Jens, Cory Jens, Jamie McBride, Shannon Jens and Randi Wisecup; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; and one sister, Betty Kesterson of Escondito, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husband, four sons, Richard, Merle, Fred and Donald, one step-son, William Honts, and one great great-grandson, Austin Walker.
