Alan Hoffman WEST BRANCH, Iowa #45;- Alan A. Hoffman, 74, West Branch, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness. Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at West Branch United Methodist Church. The Rev. Scot Patrick will officiate. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Barker Funeral Home, West Branch. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Hoffman was born on April 11, 1930, in Iowa City, the son of Glenn and Mildred Albin Hoffman. He married Marilyn Hemingway in 1950. She preceded him in death in 1993. He later married Judy Stuelke in 1995. He graduated from West Branch High School and Iowa State University in the farm operations program. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He loved his work as a farmer and retired from farming in 1993. He was a long time member of the West Branch Methodist Church, a 4-H leader, member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and director on the Cedar County School Board.
