e was an avid carpenter, he enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, and time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Johnson of Muscatine, one son, Toby Johnson of Muscatine; one daughter, Brandy Brooks of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Ariel Johnson, Tyler Brooks, Robert Dalton Johnson, DeVante Brooks, Danielle Johnson, Payton Karg, Trayvont Brooks and DeShawn Williams; five brothers, Ray Johnson and wife, Linda, of Muscatine, Joe Johnson and wife, Roberta, of South Dakota, Tom Johnson and wife, Koralie, of Muscatine, Dan Johnson and wife, Leslie, of Arkansas, and Dick Johnson of Red Oak; three sisters, Lois Horn and husband, Frank, of Indianola, Jackie Brase and husband, Bernie, of Muscatine, and Jennifer Johnson (whom he loved very much) and Charlie Lyons, both of Muscatine; three sister-in-laws, Janice Retherford of Muscatine, Shirley Retherford of California, and Delores Johnson of Davenport; 10 nieces, eight nephews; 15 great nieces, 10 great nephews, and a very special friend David Weiershauser. He was preceded in death by his parents, his paternal and maternal grandparents, four brothers, Lyle and Paul Retherford, Ron Houseman, and Marvin Johnson, one nephew, Stephen Johnson, and one great niece, Sarah Johnson.
