Jerry Mumm Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, Parkview Lutheran Church, Parkview. Visitations: 3-8 p.m. today, church, and one hour prior to services Friday, church. DAVENPORT, Iowa #45;- Jerry D. Mumm, 68, Davenport, formerly of New Liberty, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at his home. The Rev. Robert Bartel will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Dick Puls, Ralph Steffen, David Mumm, J.L. Hermiston, Duane Mumm, Ron Erickson and Daniel Frahm. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport. Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Parkview Lutheran Church or Genesis Hospice. Mr. Mumm was born May 22, 1936, in Davenport, the son of Melvin and Phyllis Petersen Mumm. He married Judith Ann Schwartz Nov. 15, 1958, in Grand Mound. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1954. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and returned to the family farm following his discharge. He and his wife farmed in Scott County on his family's Century Farm, North Hill Angus Farm, retiring in 1995. His grandchildren are the seventh generation to reside there. He was a former member of the Bennett School Board, the Dixon Coop Board of Directors, the Eastern Iowa Angus Association and Hope Lutheran Church, Dixon, where he served on the Church Council. He was past president of the Dixon Memorial Park Board and was a 10-year 4-H member and a 7-year leader of the New Liberty Livewires. He was a lifetime breeder of Aberdeen Angus cattle, continuing the same bloodline that his father started in 1936. He was proud to see his children and grandchildren exhibit Angus cattle at the Mississippi Valley Fair as he did. He enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, writing poetry, playing cards and was a member of a card club for more than 47 years. He also enjoyed cooking and going out to eat. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Shelly Clifford of Perry, Darla Fay and husband Scott and Tricia Stolba and husband Jamie, all of New Liberty; a son, Brad Mumm of Durant; three grandchildren, Michael Fay, Lauren Fay and Janaye Clifford; a step-granddaughter, Tiffany Clifford; a sister, Karol Frahm and husband Donald of West Melborne, Fla.; family friend, Dick Taber of Durant; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Harold Schuett of Durant, Jack and Dorothy Schwartz of Marion, Robert and Betty Schwartz of Wheatland, Raymond and Dorothy Schwartz of Williamsburg, Raymond and Joyce Hudlik of Calamus, Merle and Rusty Porth of DeWitt and Oscar and Joan Shelton of Calamus. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Martin Mumm; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Schuett.
