Barbara Cocklin Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at the College Heights Baptist Church, 44440 Kalifornsky Beach Road, in Soldotna, Alaska. KASILOF, Alaska - Mrs. Barbara Joan Cocklin, 75, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 after a long illness at the Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska. The Rev. Scott Coffman will officiate. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Peninsula Memorial Chapel. A headstone will be placed in Barbara's memory at the family cemetery in Grandview. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to the College Heights Baptist Church, 44440 Kalifornsky Beach Rd., Soldotna, Alaska 99669. Barbara was born Dec. 15, 1928 in Louisa County. She and husband, Dale H. Cocklin, grew up together in Grandview and were married in 1946. Barbara attended and graduated from the Burlington Beauty Academy in Iowa. She lived in Grandview from 1929 until July, 1968 when she and Dale moved to Anchorage. While in Anchorage, Barbara owned and operated Tiffney Wigs for a short time before working for the U.S. Postal Service. She often cooked for Wednesday services and was always an active member of her church. Barbara loved to cook and her house was known to inspire Salivation amp; Salvation. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dale H. Cocklin of Kasilof, Alaska; sons, Dan Cocklin of Olive Branch, Miss., Tim Cocklin of Orlando, Fla. and Tom Cocklin of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters, Lisa Roberts of Soldotna, Alaska and Darcy Waddell of Kennewick, Wash.; mother, Vivian Wiele of Lena, Ill.; sister, Marly Sue of Bullhead City, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Debra Lynn Cocklin; father, Milo Wiele; brother, Sherril Wiele; and grandson, Silas Larsen.
