Janice Laurae Westbrook

Janice Laurae (Hume) Westbrook passed away on August 3, 2019 at the age of 84 following a long illness. Janice was born in 1935 to Laurence and Gerdie Hume. She was raised on the family ranch in Dos Palos with her four sisters Beverly, Bobbie, Shirley and Sara. She graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1952, then attended San Jose State. She married Burton Angle and they had two children. She entered the work force and forged a successful career in banking, eventually managing several banks in Dos Palos, Firebaugh and Fresno, which was quite an accomplishment for a woman at that time. Janice was known for her warmth, kindness, and infectious laugh. She was a member of the Church of Christ and maintained a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Jan loved to sing in church and got great comfort reading the Bible. She loved to read and shared her love of reading with her grandchildren. By far, the greatest joy in Jan’s life was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Bev Moore and Bobbie Ceccarelli, and husband Gene Westbrook. Services will be held Thursday, August 22nd at 2:30 pm at the Church of Christ, 1835 Palo Alto, in Dos Palos. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Church of Christ for their youth ministry.
