Leo Maurer Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Visitation: 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, church. WILTON, Iowa #45;- Leo W. Maurer, 85, Wilton, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Bruce Giese will officiate the services. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Diana Gradert, and vocalist, Henry Bentley. Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Maurer was born July 4, 1919, in Wilton, the son of John and Ethal Karns Maurer. He married Pauline M. Reynolds Feb. 8, 1942, in Muscatine. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1936 and attended AIB. He worked for White Pidgeon Insurance Co. and also owned Maurer Insurance. He served on the Grinnell Mutual Board for 11 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 167 A.F. amp; A.M. and the Purity Chapter OES No. 367. He enjoyed golf and time spent with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Maurer and wife Ann of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Emily and John; and a sister, Vera Pagel of Wilton. [more]
