Lehman McClellan Graveside services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton, Ill. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. ALEDO, Ill. #45;- Lehman McClellan, 77, Aledo, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at his home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for Center Presbyterian Church, Seaton. Mr. McClellan was born June 21, 1927, in Monmouth, Ill., the son of Frank and Mary Speer McClellan. He graduated from Aledo High School and then earned a degree in agricultural education from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill. He was the second generation owner and operator of Farmers Best Seed Co. in rural Aledo. In the 1940's he produced his own hybrid seed corn called the Lehman Cross. He farmed the family farm in Ohio Grove Township with his son, Jim, until his death. He was a charter member of the American Seed Trade Association, a member of the Illinois Foundation Seed Association and was affiliated with Holden's Foundation Seeds of Iowa. Survivors include three sons, John McClellan and wife, Yong, of Boise, Idaho, Jim McClellan and wife, Mary, of Aledo and Jason Allen of Seoul, Korea; five grandchildren, David, Courtney, Krysti, Kelsey and Michael Wray; a great-grandchild, Trenton; two brothers, Speer McClellan of Redwood City, Calif., and John McClellan of Saginaw, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
