JOY, Ill. #45;- Forbes Nelson, 71, Joy, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, Ill. Burial will be at Peniel Cemetery, Joy. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Nelson was born Feb. 3, 1934, at home in rural Joy, the son of Virgil and Vance Kiddoo Nelson. He married Nancy Rubert Sept. 25, 1954, in Aledo. Upon returning from serving in the U.S. Army from 1956-58, he began farming north of the Joy area. His hobbies included antique tractor pulling. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Joy; former member of the Westmer School Board; and member of the Westmer FFA Alumni, where he was a former officer. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon Salvator and husband, Jamie, of Warrenton, Mo.; a son, Glen Nelson of Joy; two grandsons, Kaden and Garen Nelson; a sister, Lois Johnson of California; and two brothers, Macy Nelson of Aledo and Wayne Nelson of Joy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ivon; and a sister, Floy Marie Plunkett. [more]
