f 1956, he attended Muscatine Community College from 1960-1962 were he received his Associate's degree. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1965 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He was in the Naval Reserves during high school and enlisted and served four years in the US Air Force Intelligence Unit as a Russian Interpreter stationed in Monterey, California; Germany and Turkey. Mr. Lorber was a member of the St Mary Church, a former member of the Elks, he served on the Muscatine Power and Water Board of Trustees for five years, the Muscatine Catholic School Board, and the Sheltered Workshop Board. He coached Little League, Senior League and Cub Scout softball. He worked for Bandag, Inc. from 1965 to 1973. He then owned and operated the Red Paint Store from 1973 to 1997 and All Seasons Glass until his retirement in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Joan Lorber of Muscatine; one son, Jeff Lorber and wife, Sandra, of Carbondale, Illinois; one daughter, Jayne Meloy and husband, Joseph, of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandsons, Donovan and Brody Meloy of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jack Lorber of Carbondale, Illinois; one brother, Charles Lorber and wife, Irma, of New London; two sisters, Susan Thirtyacre and husband, Jack, of Illinois City, and Betty Marten and husband, Tom, of Syracuse, New York; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
