Hazel Scott NEWTON, Iowa #45;- Hazel W. Scott, 91, Newton, died Friday, June 24, 2005, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center, Newton. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton. The Rev. Roger Russell will officiate the services. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchellville Cemetery, Mitchellville. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, with family present from 9:30-11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Metz Community Church, Community Reformed Church, Wittemberg Church, Jasper County Historical Society or to a memorial of the donor's choosing. Mrs. Scott was born Aug. 4, 1913, on a farm near Woodward, in Boone County, the daughter of William J. and Cora M. Rittgers Wilson. She married Robert M. Scott April 7, 1935, at her parent's farm near Woodward. She graduated from Johnston High School and attended Iowa State College for a year. She lived on a farm near Colfax from 1937-73 before moving to a farm near Moravia. She lived on the farm near Moravia from 1973-88 when she moved to Newton. She lived in Newton for 17 years. Metz Community Church, a longtime Farm Bureau member and a member of her local Farm Bureau Women's Club. She enjoyed birdwatching, flower gardening (especially roses and African Violets), raising strawberries and tomatoes and spending time with her family and friends. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, David Scott and wife, Carolyn, of McGregor, Herbert Scott and wife, Sybil, of rural Kellogg and Fred Scott and wife, Susan, of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Beth Wilson of Bozeman, Mont.; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Wilson of Auburn, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
