On December 2, 1913 the world was blessed with the birth of Addie L. Horsley to the late Elige and Opal Turner Horsley in Coweta County. She accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Providence Baptist Church in Newnan, GA. A born nurturer and the eldest of 8 children, Addie looked after her siblings. This foreshadowed the great matriarch she would become. Her steadfast love and unwavering support was immeasurable. Through times of joy and challenge, her matriarchal compassion never wavered. Addie exceeded the maternal instincts she honed as a sibling when she became birth mother to eight beautiful children. Addie was married to the late Aaron Bledsoe. Here compassion went beyond family. Everyone was welcome in her home, from all the neighborhood children, to the helpless and homeless. She took pride and joy in caring for everyone. After 96 glorious years, Addie "Big Momma" Bledsoe departed this life on August 23, 2010.Addie was preceded in death by her husband Aaron, three sons Ray, Rayford C, & Willie Gene; four brothers and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory, son: Inman (Minerva)Beadles-Newnan, GA, daughters: Opal M. Criss-Decatur...[more]
