Alfonso "Poncho" Delgado

Alfonso Enrique "Poncho" Delgado, age 76, of Fowler and formerly of El Paso, TX, died Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 3:37 pm in Blessing Hospital. Poncho was born July 22, 1944 in Juarez, Mexico, the son of Alfonso and Maria de Jesus Lopez Delgado. He married Juana E. Valdivia on October 3, 1963 in El Paso, TX. She survives. Poncho was an auto mechanic by trade, and he worked in auto and auto body repair for his entire career. He had been employed by Texaco, the Border Patrol, and U 1st Corporation as a mechanic for a total of 28 years. Most recently he owned and operated his own garage and body repair shop. Poncho enjoyed sports, and his favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Dallas Cowboys. In his spare time Poncho enjoyed building plastic models and restoring vintage cars. Nicholas Delgado, Jorge Delgado Jr., Elena Delgado, Ryan Daggett, Evie Delgado, Alexa Ortiz, and Riley Delgado; three great-grandchildren: Evan Gardino and Adam and Julian Piña. Poncho was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jesus Delgado; and three daughters: Maria Guadelupe, Maria de la Luz, and Maria de Jesus Delgado. Poncho was cremated as per his wishes. A memorial service will be held at a later date in El Paso, TX.
