ALEDO, Ill. #45;- Dona Mae Norton, 85, formerly of Joy, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. The Rev. Richard Bishop officiated the services. Casket bearers were Steve Willits, Alex Lambert, Jake Lower, Jamie Kellett, Stan Nelson and Howard Biddle. Honorary casket bearers were Cliff Whitehall and Dave Long. Burial was at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery, Buffalo Prairie, Ill. Memorials may be made to Joy United Methodist Church. Mrs. Norton was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Buffalo Prairie, the daughter of Elmo and Floy Noble Marston. She married Russell Norton on Oct. 29, 1938, in Grandview, Iowa. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 1988. She graduated from Aledo High School. She was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, flowers and gardening. She was a member of the former Joy United Presbyterian Church and a current member of Joy United Methodist Church, where she was active in many groups over the years. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Long and husband Kenny of New Boston, Ill., and Joyce Lambert and husband Frank of Rock Island, Ill.; a son, Bill Norton of Aledo; six grandchildren, Dave, Doug, Sarah, Denise, Erin and Alex; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Carolyn; and a brother, Bill Marston.
