MAURICE SLATER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Maurice E. Slater, 64, of Muscatine, died Saturday, October 22, 2005, at Lutheran Homes after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Father Jason Crossen of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to American Cancer Society. Maurice was born on April 15, 1941, in Muscatine, the son of William and Agnes Bekker Slater. He married Patricia Truitt, June 29, 1990, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a graduate of Grandview High School where he was Salutatorian of his senior class. He was retired from Thatcher Plastics after 32 years. Mr. Slater was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs and spending time with his grandchildren.
