Philip Kephart WEST LIBERTY, Iowa #45;- Philip A. Kephart, 76, West Liberty, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness. No services are planned. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kephart was born May 8, 1929, in Bennett, Iowa, the son of Lester and Augusta Eggert Kephart. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1947 and served with the U.S. Navy. He had been employed with the Civil Service Administration, working in radar tracking stations in Corpus Christi, Texas and later Alexandria, Minn. before moving back to West Liberty. He was very active in the West Liberty Gun Club and was instrumental in building the current gun club. He was a member of North American Hunting Club, life member of the NRA and an avid reader. Survivors include three sons, Richard Kephart and Edward Kephart, both of Alexandria, and P.J. Kephart of Lone Tree; two daughters, Michelle Freise of Surprise, Ariz. and Marsha Whitley of Forsyth, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Brooke and husband Robert of West Liberty; and four stepdaughters.
