ATALISSA, Iowa #45;- Michael Earl DeVore, 54, Atalissa, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at his residence after an extended illness. Burial will be at Overman Cemetery, Atalissa. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. DeVore was born Nov. 8, 1951, in Iowa City, the son of Earl and Kathleen 'Pey' DeVore. He married Debra Dotson on June 29, 1974, in Rochester. He attended Atalissa and West Liberty schools. He was a master of many trades through his lifetime. He was a corn sheller for Mac McKillip, Atalissa; a window glazer at Huttig's, Muscatine; and a feed truck driver for Walnut Grove, West Liberty. He tried his hand at farming with his father-in-law. He drove a bulldozer and a backhoe for Everett Crees Construction. He drove a cement truck for Grunder's Ready Mix. He ended up being the manager at the Hahn Ready Mix Plant, West Liberty. eel Mill at 2:30 a.m. while he was taking radiation treatments because that was the only time they could pour. He was a boy at heart. He loved racing go-carts with his son Cody. He always loved fast cars! He enjoyed the stock cars, NASCAR and drag races. He enjoyed going to the Mallards' games. He enjoyed playing cards. He was a member of the Rochester Methodist Church since 1990. He was also an 11-year member of the Sons of the Legion. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kara DeVore and Holly Mathias and husband Matt, all of West Liberty; a son, Cody of Atalissa; a brother, Kevin DeVore and wife Evelyn of Muscatine; two sisters, Pat Lueras and husband George of Las Vegas and Kathy Dlouhy and husband Allan of Tipton; and three grandchildren, Madalyn DeVore, Maggie and Ayden Mathias. He was preceded in death by his parents.
