JAMES PULLIAM MUSCATINE, Iowa - James Virgil Pulliam, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. An open house honoring his life will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Pulliam residence. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com. James was born on July 24, 1933, in Muscatine, the son of William and Addie Jane Gravatt Pulliam. He married Dolores Everett on May 17, 1959 in Muscatine. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1951 and attended the University of Iowa as a Music Major. James was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1953 to 1961, receiving the National Defense Service Medal/Army of Occupation Medals (Germany). He retired from First National Bank of Muscatine in 1997 after 37 years. He was an avid trout fisherman, sang in the Elks Chanters for many years, and was an accomplished golfer.
