He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus (Third and Fourth Degree); past member of Farm Bureau; was past president of the Iowa Cattleman's Association; and he served on the Washington County Hospital Board for 20 years. Survivors include six children, Dr. Matthew Sojka and wife, Kim, of Muscatine, Martin Sojka and wife, Brenda, of Winnebago, Illinois, Marvin Sojka and wife, Lori, of Magnolia, Texas, Angela Sojka of Glen St. Mary's, Florida, Myron Sojka and wife, Katie, of Logan, Renee Cunningham and husband, Jeff, of Chesapeake, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Nadyne LaRouche of Indianapolis, Indiana, Eldiene Amer of Anchorage, Alaska and Donna Reha of Wellman; and a brother, Alvin Sojka of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, a son, Michael Sojka; a sister, Hazel Chalupa; and three brothers, Walter, Elmer and George Sojka.
