Laura Jean Carter

Laura Jean Carter, 44, Conesville, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Iowa City. A remembrance party will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan 7,2006 at Burt's Tavern, Nichols, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Eastern, Central and Western Iowa is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Hannah Carter. She was born Oct. 16, 1961, in Iowa City, the daughter of James "Art" and Doris Dockery McAtee. She was a housekeeper and a loving mother, daughter and sister to her family. Survivors include two daughters, Hannah Carter of Nichols, Reanna Bawer of Newton, KN; a son, James Culpepper of Bentley, KN.; her mother, Doris McAtee of Conesville; four brothers, Dan McAtee and wife Chris of Nichols, Carl McAtee and wife Laura of Conesville, Rick Kirk and wife Becky of Conesville and Skip Kirk and wife Amy of Columbus Junction; two sisters, Linda Culpepper and husband Jerry of Bentley and Sharey Pilcher of New Hampton, Iowa; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother-in-law, Daniel Pilcher.[more]
