Plett, 72, Wilton, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Meadowlawn Health Care, Davenport. The Rev. Kenneth Harden will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Arnie Adams, Darwin Plett, Wesley Plett, Rodney Ricklefs, Darrin Plett, John Beaird and Mark Fuhlman. Honorary casket bearers are Maynard Brugman, Everett Adams, Jack Beaird, Larry Plett and Stacy Bradshaw. Burial will be at the Blue Grass Cemetery, Blue Grass. Memorials may be made to the Alvin Plett Memorial Fund. Mr. Plett was born Dec. 18, 1933, in Davenport, the son of Ellery and Hazel Washburn Plett. He married Barbara N. Blake on April 4, 1959, in Muscatine. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for 40 years at Alcoa, Riverdale, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church, Wilton, and the 25-year Club at Alcoa. He was an avid NASCAR, Iowa Hawkeyes and Wilton Beavers fan. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bambi Beaird and husband John of Wildwood, Mo.; two sons, Bruce Plett of Wilton and Brian Plett and wife Lesa of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren, Kindra Plett, Caitlin Beaird, John Beaird and Emilee Plett; a sister, Lois Hines and husband Bill of Ottumwa; two brothers, Merle Plett and wife Dorothy of Wilton and Paul Plett and wife JoAnn of Cranston. He was preceded in death by parents.
