Visitation: 2-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with family present from 5-7 p.m. and an Order of Eastern Star service at 5 p.m. Pauline Elliott, 91, Wapello, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman will officiate the services. Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery, rural Wapello. A memorial fund has been established for the Race for the Cure and the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Elliott was born Dec. 4, 1914, in rural Wapello, the daughter of Paul A. and Edna Cross Derby. She married Leonard C. Elliott on June 6, 1934, in Burlington. He preceded her in death March 31, 1997. She and her husband resided most all their lives in Wapello. She was a farm wife for many years and was an outstanding gardener. She took great pride in the farming occupation. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and served for many years on the Wapello School Board. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Grouwinkel and husband Gary of Mount Prospect, Ill.; a grandson, Kevin Grouwinkel and wife Karen of Mount Prospect; two granddaughters, Kristin Spiewak and husband Phil of Rolling Meadows, Ill. and Kari Monk and husband Dave of Mesa, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Collins of Atalissa and Jane Forte of West Liberty; a brother, Woodrow W. Derby of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, good neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Bill Derby; and a sister, Ruth Elder.
