Phoenix - Arthur R. King, 71, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 14, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Arthur R. King and Lillian A. King. Following his graduation in 1968 from Luther South High School in Chicago, he attended and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972 where he studied Slavic Languages and Literature and furthered his education at Harvard University. Art retired from a very fulfilling career as an echocardiographer in 2014 and moved with his beloved wife, Jeannie, to Arizona. In retirement, Art continued to pursue his love of medicine and helping others. He was a volunteer at HonorHealth Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale for 4 years and worked as a volunteer with the Mended Hearts Association of Phoenix for 1 year. He had a deep passion for cardiology, music, learning, and truly enjoyed discussing current events and politics. He found great pleasure in shopping, reading, exercising, dining out, exploring new places, hiking, and going for long drives with Jeannie. ice, of Morris, Illinois; son Caleb King, of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Sage King, of Kailua, HI and son-in-law Sam Craig; son Tobias Gnatek, of Leeds, MA; step-daughter Shana Marchan, of Marlborough, MA; step-daughter Lauren Brown, of North Pole, AK and step son-in-law Drake Brown; grandchildren Theodore and Ophelia Craig, of HI; and step-grandchildren Tyler, Jaylen, and Briella Marchan, of MA and Lincoln and Hunter Brown, of AK. To honor his wishes, local services will not be held and a Celebration of Art's life for family and friends will be held in Massachusetts in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Heart Association.
