Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Visitation: 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, funeral home. Harold "Al" Sterner, 69, Muscatine, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at his home. The Rev. Timothy Jones will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Deb Mohr and vocalist Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are Kevin Lendt, Victor Quintana, Matthew Abraham, Jayson McVay, Larry Morrison and Larry McDevitt. Honorary casket bearers are Scott Sterner and B.J. Sterner. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice of Iowa or the A.L.S. Association Mr. Sterner was born June 20, 1936, in Muscatine County, the son of Lester and Edna Marolf Sterner. He married Nancy K. Lenker on Aug. 25, 1961, in Muscatine. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1954. He worked for CDS, Wilton, as a warehouse manager for more than 20 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed carpentry, flowers, gardening, traveling and fishing. He was a "handyman" who could fix anything. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Houston and Steven Sterner and wife Anne of Overland Park, Kan.; two granddaughters, Rachel and Reagan Sterner; and three sisters, Helen Lendt and husband Raymond of Lowden, Betty Dollar and Sharon Phillips, both of Conesville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leo Sterner and Alfred "Bill" Sterner.
