Loretta Marie Ruess

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, West Liberty. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. today, Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service. Loretta Marie Ruess, 75, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at the Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty. The Rev. Dennis Martin will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established. Mrs. Ruess was born July 23, 1930, in rural West Liberty, the daughter of Ralph and Pauline Knebel Pelzer. She married James Ruess on Aug. 9, 1949, in West Liberty. He preceded her in death in 1994. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1948. She was a housewife and also worked at the University of Iowa for eight years until retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Ricky Ruess of West Liberty; four daughters, Becky Burich and husband John of Coralville, Beverly Feldman and husband Robert of West Liberty, Linda Paulsen and husband Bart of Stockton and Betty Ann Ruess of Des Moines; four brothers, Raymond Pelzer and Donald Pelzer and wife Kathleen, all of West Liberty, Paul Pelzer and wife Marge ...[more]
