Susan G. (Hibbert) Hill, 43, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away at 3:14 p.m. in Blessing Hospital on Thursday, April 22, 2021 after nearly 7 years of battling colorectal cancer. Susan was born on January 5, 1978 in Quincy to Dennis and Joyce Hibbert of Paloma. She cherished her lifelong relationship with Jesus and was baptized at First Christian Church in Camp Point. Susan's love for education and reading books began early at the Coatsburg Grade School. She verbalized by 4th Grade that she wanted to be a teacher. She graduated from Central High School in Camp Point in 1996 and then attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL where she participated in the clown ministry, God's Holy Fools. She graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and moved back to Quincy to begin her teaching career. After one year with QPS, she was offered a teaching position at Quincy Christian School (QCS) in August 2001 that would go on to define her life's mission work. Over the next 20 years she would wear multiple hats at QCS, usually more than one at a time, including teacher, secretary, fundraiser, assistant principal, principal, and administrator. in Bible Bowl in her Jr/Sr High years and then proceeded to coach it at QCS. She was active in 4H growing up and recently enjoyed garage sales, craft projects, cooking, Cardinals baseball, traveling with her friends, going on Mission Trips, cheering for Jimmy Johnson, attending the Adams County Fair, and participating in family events on the farm. Susan married Tim Hill in Quincy, IL on July 24, 2010, and together they have two boys, Kenny and Lucas. They called The Crossing their church home. She received her cancer diagnosis on June 27, 2014 and was told she had 2-3 years to live. She said that was not acceptable. She knew God had a plan for her and she was not done working for Him. For the next seven years, she underwent continual treatments and never complained. She refused to let it slow her down or to dim her rock-solid faith or to stop her work at QCS. Many people who met her recently or had not known her long were usually amazed when they found out she was actively fighting cancer. Survivors include her loving husband, Tim, and two sons, Kenny (9) and Lucas (7) of Quincy along with her mother, Joyce Hibbert and two brothers, Doug (Lori) Hibbert and Philip (Stacey) Hibbert, all of Paloma; Father and Mother-in-law Dave & Sue Hill of Quincy; Sister-in-law Melissa (JRyan) Norton of Payson; nieces and nephews: Ashley (Alec) Davis, Rebecca (Titus) Vester, Zach Hibbert, Alex Hibbert, Ben Hibbert, Hunter Hibbert, Gwen Norton, Jace Norton, Elle Norton, along with many precious aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by whom she fondly referred to as "the girls". There are no words to describe the encouraging impact they had on her life or she on theirs: childhood friends Lucy (Koetters) Crain; Sarah (Huber) Steinkamp; Megan (Humes) Mason; and Heidi (Moellring) Gustison, and college friends Leigh-Ann Bonn and Jennifer Ratermann. She was preceded in death by her beloved daddy and all of her grandparents. Whether she was your daughter, wife, mother, student, teacher, friend, boss, co-worker, aunt, cousin, patient, room-mate, Bible study partner, prayer warrior, neighbor or acquaintance -- your life was impacted. Keep her legacy alive - "serve and serve and serve until there is nothing left to do". Services: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at The Crossing with Walt Wilcoxson officiating.
