Funeral services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 16, Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation: 5-8 p.m., funeral home. F. Arlene Jones, 74, of Aledo, Ill., died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Aledo Rehab and Health Center. The Rev. John Mattingly will officiate. Burial is in the Edgington Cemetery. She was born March 22, 1931, in Savannah, the daughter of Roy C. and Adelia Spurgeon Brunk. She graduated from Davis County High School in Bloomfield and married Derald R. Jones April 9, 1948, in Bloomfield. She was a homemaker and was employed as a custodian for Aledo High School for 19 years, retiring in 1996. She supervised the summer youth programs through J.T.P.A. and other organizations. She was a member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary and the Aledo First Baptist Church. She was an avid sports fan supporting the Aledo Green Dragons, Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Debra and David VanderHeyden of Livorno, Italy; one son, Douglas Jones of Las Vegas, Nev.; a special son, Polo Arriaga; six grandchildren, Sean and Bridgett Jones of Aledo, Scott and Amanda Rooth Stallings of Las Vegas, John and Winona Stallings of Andalusia, Matthew, Caleb and Mark VanderHeyden, all of Livorno, Italy; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Sara, Colin and Caitlyn Jones; eight step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-step-grandchild; one sister, Freda Mitchell of Aledo; one sister-in-law, Waneta Brunk of Bloomfield and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Mary Brunk, a sister, Flo and four brothers, Lee, Shorty, Tommy and Noel.
