Lucille Howell Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Columbus Junction. Lucille J. Howell, 95, Lapeer, formerly of Swartz Creek, Mich. and Louisa County, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in Davison, Mich. The Rev. Linda Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be at the Columbus City Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship for friends and family will be held at the Masonic Hall, Columbus City. Memorial donations may be made to the Imlay City United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Mrs. Howell was born Dec. 15, 1910, on the family farm in Cairo, Iowa, the daughter of William Ellsworth and Ruth Galey Gledhill Toms. She married Willis Howell on Aug. 24, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1982. She graduated from high school in Columbus Junction in 1929. She then attended business college and later worked for the Weber and Huston Grain Co., Columbus Junction. She and her husband moved to Michigan in 1936 and eventually purchased a farm in Swartz Creek in 1946. He retired from Buick Plant Protection in 1971. She lived on the farm until 2000. d North America. She was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and was active for many years in the United Methodist Women, as well as the local garden and Extension clubs. More recently, she had been attending the United Methodist Church in Imlay City, Mich. Survivors include two sons, Gary Howell and wife Cheryl of North Branch, Mich. and Donald Howell and wife Susan of Anderson, S.C.; grandchildren, John and Tiffany Howell, Debra and Chris Pesta and Diana Howell; great-grandchildren, Anna and Katie Pesta; her special caretaker, Connie Baker; and a brother, Albert Toms and wife Bernie of Fort Collins, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Harry Toms; and two sisters-in-law, Edith and Kay Toms.
