Lyle was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, the Newcastle Laurence Lofgren American Legion Post #62 and the Martinsburg Vernon Gasser VFW Post 5435. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports, especially baseball. He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Newcastle, NE; sons, David (Julee) Wendte of Ponca, NE and Kevin Wendte of Newcastle, NE; daughters, Sheryn Asher of Austin, TX, Peggy (Dave) Anderson of Ponca, NE, Pam (Kevin) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD and Cindy (Gregg) Doeden of Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Sue) Wendte of Newcastle, NE, Jim (Janice) Wendte of Yankton, SD; sisters, Faye Marron of Newcastle, NE, Shirley Livingston of South Sioux City, NE and Connie (Roger) Voss of Lincoln, NE; and many nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Lyle Wendte; sister, Junealee Voss, brothers-in-law, Leonard Marron, Robert Livingston and Chris Voss.
