MICHAEL WEGGEN MUSCATINE, Iowa - Michael 'Mike' A. Weggen 56, of Muscatine, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at his home. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street. Reverend Bruce Martin of the Calvary Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Steve Ziegenhorn, Chris Brase, Roger Wilson, Brian Abbott, Harold Bennett, Kevin Cannon, Mike Collins, Ted Hillard, Mark Neal, and Steve Ryder. Burial will be in the Soldiers Section of Greenwood Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at Calvary Church following the committal service. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice. Mike was born on March 1, 1950, in Muscatine, the son of Donald L. and Dorothy L. Houvenagle Weggen. He married Karen Jansen on October 4, 1975, in Muscatine. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School. He was a Sergeant in the US Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Karen Weggen of Muscatine; three daughters, Michelle Fields and husband, Mike, and their children, Matthew and Joshua, of Bastrop, Texas, Melissa Weggen and daughter, Sarah, and Rebecca Weggen and daughter, Kalista, all of Muscatine; his mother, Dorothy L. Weggen of Muscatine; one brother, Jim Weggen and wife, Sandy, of Muscatine; nieces and nephews, Polly and Casey Weggen and Miranda Stokes and Sam Ingram; and one aunt, Villa Houvenagle. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Donald L. Weggen in 2001.
