WESLEY HERWIG Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the Walnut Park Baptist Church, 205 Colorado Street. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.. MUSCATINE - Wesley G. Herwig, 87, of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Lutheran Homes. Reverend Dennis Hakes and Reverend Hal Miller will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ryan Herwig, Jason Herwig, Steve Phillips, Tom Pietras, Garry Paul, Tom Miller, Hylan Phillips, and Tim Phillips. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walnut Park Baptist Church. Wesley was born on November 26, 1918, in Muscatine, the son of George Henry and Mary F. Witte Herwig. He married Lorraine M. Peetz on October 5, 1944, in Muscatine. He was a WW 2 Veteran serving in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. He worked at Roach and Musser, Huttig Manufacturing, and retired from Stanley Consultants. He was a member of Walnut Park Baptist Church and active in the Campus Bible Fellowship. He enjoyed photography, coin collecting, and stamp collecting. He was an avid Cub and Hawkeye fan. one son James W. Herwig and wife Yvonne of Elberfeld, Indiana; four grandchildren Erin Pietras and husband Tom of North Liberty, Ryan Herwig of Ames, Jason Herwig of Muscatine, and Caleb Herwig of Greenville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 2002.
