Edythe Weih DURANT, Iowa -- Edythe A. Weih, 65, Durant, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at her home, surrounded by her entire family. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport. The Rev. Kurt Larson will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Marilyn Luebbe and vocalist Kari Atkins. Casket bearers are her grandchildren, Josh Geigle, Diane Burkey, Chris Geigle, Shannon Burkey, Jesse Burkey, Jeremy Weih, Cody Weih, Paige Butterbrodt, Colin Weih and Bailie Butterbrodt. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery. Visitations will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant; and one hour prior to services Saturday, church. Memorials may be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church. Mrs. Weih was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Davenport, the daughter of Marvin and Leona Lafrenz Steinhagen. She married Dennis L. Weih on Dec. 9, 1966, in Davenport. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1996. She was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church and the Durant American Legion Auxiliary 430. cretary of the Cedar County Fair Association. She was a past 4-H leader and past member of the Cedar County 4-H Youth Committee. She was awarded a lifetime membership to the A.S.R.B.A. in 2000 and lifetime membership to the Iowa State Rabbit Breeders Association. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the American Rabbit Breeders Association and was a member of many other rabbit organizations. She enjoyed attending county and state fairs. She collected cookbooks and Longaberger baskets. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Sherrie Geigle and husband Jim of Walcott, Terrie Burkey and husband Jeff of Durant and Vickie Butterbrodt and husband Lon of Clarence; two sons, Mark Weih and wife Peggy of Wilton and Matt Weih and wife Tonya of Durant; two sisters, Anita Holst of Bettendorf and Kathy Stegen and husband Bill of Arvada, Colo.; and two brothers, Leon Steinhagen of New Liberty and Marvin Steinhagen of Davenport; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
