Ethel Seamer Graveside services: 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, Lone Tree Cemetery. Ethel Lorraine Seamer, 87, Muscatine, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at the Muscatine Care Center after an extended illness. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Lone Tree, is handling the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home Mrs. Seamer was born March 31, 1919, in Davenport, the daughter of John and Genevieve Ruland Sylvester. She married Francis Seamer in 1944 in Davenport. She attended Davenport High School and later took a course in typing. She and her husband moved to a farm near Moscow. She loved many things about the farm, her chickens, kittens, dogs, gardening, canning and hunting mushrooms. She had no children of her own, so she "adopted" others, leading Girl Scout troops and taking many kids fishing. In later years, after her husband passed away, she wrote articles for the Muscatine Journal, under the pen name of Lorraine. She loved interviewing people and used one of the first Polaroid cameras.
