Carlson, 55, New Boston, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, Ill. Inurnment will be at Mannon Cemetery, rural New Boston, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Mr. Carlson was born Dec. 21, 1950, the son of Robert W. and M. Carolyn Hall Carlson. He married Jodie Sowder on Jan. 10, 1991, in Aledo. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. He farmed near New Boston his entire life and was a true family man. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Aron Carlson and wife Christie of Muscatine and Albert Lerma of New Boston; two daughters, Mamie Carlson of Pittsburg, Pa. and Ashley Carlson of Macomb, Ill.; and a sister, Linda Hillyer of Moline, Ill.
