Richard Klink GLEN ELLYN, Ill. - Richard K. Klink, 84, Glen Ellyn, former longtime resident of Oak Brook, died Aug. 26, 2006. Funeral Services were on Aug. 31, 2006, at the Christ Church, Oak Brook, Illinois. Burial was at Bronswood Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Dr. Ronald Ross Cancer Research Fund, USC Norris Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake, Room 8302, Los Angeles, CA 90033. Mr. Klink was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Karl and Loretta Toussaint Klink. He married Maurine Kersten on July 17, 1946, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death. He grew up in Muscatine, graduating from high school in 1940. After high school he attended the community college. It was during this time that he took flying lessons and received his pilot's license at age 19. Upon entering the U.S. Air Force he was part of the 10-man crew for a B-24, but not as the pilot. He often joked that they trained him to be the front gunner in the ball turret underneath because he was the shortest and could fit. VE Day occurred as he was about to be sent to Europe. , Chicago. He also received an MBA from the University of Chicago. He was later employed as a senior executive with Bliss amp; Laughlin Industries, Oak Brook. Survivors include three sons, Richard of Crete, Ill., Steven and wife Christine of Glen Ellyn, with whom he lived for the past year, and Donald and wife Cathy of Hinsdale, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Ross of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Florence Kasowski.
